This post is part of my series, A Real Picture of Pregnancy, where I document my pregnancy every 4 weeks. But rather than a perfectly-styled outfit, airbrushed makeup, chalkboard art and a clean house, I take the photo just as my life is. A beautiful mess. Unedited and not touched up.
12 Weeks
Well here’s my 12 weeks pregnant belly!
On this particular day, the boys and I had just spent the whole afternoon at the park. It’s hard to see in the picture, but their hands, legs, feet and even their faces are completely covered in dirt. All evening, my husband couldn’t stop laughing at their dirt-smudged faces, and even asked me to take a picture to send to his dad. It made me smile.
The toddler, who can be seen pointing his play power tool at the camera, refused to wear anything but his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt that day, and I finally decided to stop fighting it. The baby is holding a full bottle of new mustard, which he’d snagged from the pantry a few minutes earlier. Behind all of us is the laundry couch, which on this day had 2 loads of laundry that had been sitting there for at least 4 days.
Real life, laughter, a beautiful mess!
That’s what my life is, and I am choosing to embrace it.
This month, we were also ecstatic to find out that we’re expecting our third boy! I know, you have a blank stare on your face. Yes I am truly excited to be having 3 boys! I made the mistake of very much wanting a girl for baby #2, and the day I found out we were having a son, I almost cried. Not anymore. I’m happy with whatever God gives me. I mean, what old lady doesn’t want 3 sons protecting her and caring for her in old age? Plus, this way I don’t have to pay for weddings or deal with teenage girl hormones!
(My friend Julie took pictures of us as we found out, and it was so fun!)
The morning all-day sickness is here and there, but not as constant anymore. I do still have moments where I wonder if I will ever enjoy food again. I look forward to the day, hopefully soon, where I can look at raw meat or cut fresh veggies again without feeling the urge to gag.
I’ll be doing this through the remainder of my pregnancy, so be sure to subscribe to She Just Glows for monthly updates! If anything, my grossness and dirty house will only make you feel better about yourself, LOL.
