I was making chili the other night, and I realized I was missing a crucial ingredient. What happened next has evolved into a core value of She Just Glows, and I’m sharing it in this week’s podcast episode.

I was making chili for my family the other night, and I realized I had no cumin.
Oh crap! What am I going to do?
I couldn’t call off dinner. The meat was already browning, and the kids were hungry.
But, is chili even chili without the cumin? I mean, honestly. Can you even make chili that doesn’t have cumin and still call it chili?
I had no choice but to keep going with my plan. After all, everyone was hungry and I was out of time.
So, I freestyled. I found some other spices. Instead of cumin, I used oregano, basil, smoked paprika, chili powder and salt and pepper.
The chili didn’t have cumin. But I figured it out. I made a way.
I just made the chili.
See, sometimes in life, we can’t turn back.
We have to keep going and embrace imperfect progress.
In this instance, I had 2 choices: either not serve dinner and no one would eat, or ladle bowls of cumin-free chili and see what happens.
Turns out, everyone loved the chili. I knew it was missing the star ingredient, but no one else seemed to care.
Your perfect plan may have gone off course but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Actually, it’s possible that no one will even notice a difference.
