There are mornings when I want something reaaaaally bad for breakfast. Salty, sweet, chocolate. Not green smoothie material.
But wait, it is! Introducing the Chocolate Monkey green smoothie, created on a morning when I was exhausted and craving a chocolate muffin.
Chocolate Monkey green smoothie
1 frozen banana
1 tbsp. raw cacao powder
2 tbsp. almond butter (or any nut butter you like)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 large handful spinach (or any greens)
1/2 – 3/4 cup cold filtered water
Blend and enjoy! And don’t forget to follow my favorite smoothie tips, like blending the greens and liquid first.
It’s crazy how you can drink something that tastes like chocolate and peanut butter, but it’s actually filled with superfoods like spinach and cacao powder. Way better than a loaded-with-calories muffin or toast with peanut butter you were about to reach for.
You go, girl!
Now if only I could convince the kids to turn off this Care Bears episode and eat their breakfast. Oh well, at least mine is delicious and good for me.
