For purposes of green smoothies, I could not love summer more. The reason? Melons. And lots of them. Watermelons, cantaloupe, honeydew. They are so refreshing in fresh-pressed juices (like my Pass-A-Grille melon refresher), and the sweet delicious refreshing flavor they add to my daily green smoothie just reminds me that summer is here and it’s time to love my sexy self.
Sometimes melons are hard to use up. Our family often cuts into a watermelon over the weekend, and by Monday morning, I have tons of rapidly-softening sweet pink melon to use up. So I just dice it and freeze it in small sandwich bags so that I can grab it for smoothies. So no melon is left behind. Win.
Stay Sexy Summer Green Smoothie
2 cups frozen honeydew
1 frozen sliced banana
2 handfuls spinach (or other green)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 tbsp. coconut oil
3/4 cup cold filtered water
Blend and enjoy the refreshing, skinny taste of summer!
Remember, it’s best to blend greens and water first (unless you have a Vitamix). Then add other ingredients and blend again. (For more of my basic smoothie-making tips, and the recipe for my very favorite green smoothie, check out this post.)
